Grand Seiko Heritage Hi-Beat Boutique Edition ‘Mt Iwate’ SBGJ235

Grand Seiko don’t seem to be able to put a foot wrong in recent years, and in 2018 the boutique-exclusive SBGJ231 joined the ever-growing catalogue of amazingly finished, superbly built and mechanically interesting collection. This was also later released in an International model under the reference SBGJ235 as a Boutique-exclusive piece, which is the same watch but with a different reference number, and the watch we have here today.

Featuring the classic 44GS 40mm case in steel with it’s hand finished Zaratsu polishing, it houses a stunning ‘Mount Iwate’ dial which is inspired by the ridgeline of the mountain visible from the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi. It’s topped with applied hand-finished markers and GS’ trademark super-sharp and exquisitely finished hour and minute hands hands, with a gold GMT hand which matches the gold ‘GMT’ script.

Powering it is the 9S86 Hi-Beat automatic movement, and it’s finished off with a stainless steel bracelet making for a practical daily and travel watch with the finishing and quality synonymous with Grand Seiko.

This particular piece was first sold locally in 2021 and presents in TZ ‘Near Mint’ condition. Has clearly been worn sparingly, and shows only very minor swirls and light hairlines on the case, and a few very minor marks on the bezel. Please see images for full condition details.

Bracelet includes all links, and shows only the lightest signs of use.

No known service history, but a little young for that. Currently keeping COSC time, and all functions operating as they should. Remains under balance of manufacturers extended warranty.

Comes with outer box, inner box, instruction manual, warranty booklet, Seiko Inspection Certificate, hang tag, Boutique extended guarantee booklet and spare links to complete the bracelet.
